
THE BENCHMARK FOR INTERNATIONAL BEAUTY TRADE SHOW
Exhibitors at the recent mammoth COSMOBEAUTÉ ASIA 2007, was overwhelmed by its success on delivering 13,712 trade visitors from 27 countries over the four-day international event for the beauty trade and the spa and wellness industry at Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur from 16 – 19 July 2007. Some 400 companies from 25 countries around the world exhibited a comprehensive array of products, services, technology and peripherals that occupied an area of more than 7,000 square metres in two main exhibition halls at Putra World Trade Centre. Australia, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan organised their national and regional groups to COSMOBEAUTÉ ASIA 2007 respectively.
This premier trade show, hailed as the most effective platform for beauty industry professionals to meet, discuss and trade, represented the largest gathering of manufacturers, buyers, distributors, and beauty professionals from the cosmetics, beauty, spa and in the South East Asia region. Business networking opportunities among the more than 600 exhibitors and guests were greatly enhanced at the meet and mingle cocktail reception hosted by ECMI, the Organisers and pioneer in promoting strategic partnerships, among the many value-added features enjoyed by exhibiting companies.

The seemingly endless flow of trade visitors was most evident at the fully-manned registration counters. Once inside the exhibition halls, trade visitors immersed themselves into the ambience of a truly international trade show, a result of the uniquely-designed hall décor and enhancements made on the usually-bland standard booths. The organisers, ECMI, set the trend with the ‘CosmoBeauté Asia Best Booth Award’ to encourage exhibitors to play their part in setting the desired visual impact that greeted their discerning audience successfully.
Beyond the ‘cosmetics’ presented at CosmoBeauté Asia 2007, The Asia Pacific Spa & Wellness Council ( APSWC), a non-profit-organisation that consist of 11 national spa association from each country from the Asia Pacific region organised the APSWC Spa Industry Seminar that was attended spa operators and members of the media. International speakers included Samantha Foster, APSWC Chairman and founder/VP of Spa & Wellness Association (Singapore) and Business Development Director for Chiva-Som International Health Resorts, Andrew Jacka, President of the Thai Spa Association, Director of Horwath Spa Consulting, and APSWC Task Force Leader for ‘Planet’, Donald Cha, APSWC Councilor for Nepal, and APSWC Task Force Leader for ‘Profit’, Mary Darling, APSWC Council Support and independent spa consultant and finally, Jacqueline Le Sueur : APSWC Community Relations and MD of Creative Health & Training Pte Ltd in Singapore.
On 18 July 2007, YB Dato’ Dr. Ng Yen Yen, Deputy Finance Minister graced the official launching of the Spa & Wellness Industry Association of Malaysia (SWiAM) that was also held in conjunction with CosmoBeauté Asia 2007. In her speech, she mentioned Spa and Wellness industry plays an important role in tourism and so support the formation of SWIAM to safeguard the industry and encouraged healthy competition. Later YB Dato’ Dr. Ng toured the exhibition she graciously presented the CosmoBeauté Asia Best Booth Awards to Iyecon Sdn Bhd (1st place), Nicolas Khoo Beauty World Sdn Bhd (2nd place) and Cherro Skin Health Product Sdn Bhd (3rd place).

Among other exciting event that took place concurrently were Fantastic Nail Award 2007 by JJ Nail Professional Training Sdn Bhd, International Competition on “Bridal Fantasy” and “Bridal Fashion Dinner Make-Up” presented by Aery Jo Korea, Talk on “ When East Meets West in Massage Therapy” by Madam Stella, “ Therma Skin” by Ms Valentina Colo, “ The Miracle of Yogurts “ by Mr. Paul Keegan, “Korean Traditional Pattern Body Arts” by Madam Sin Dan-Ju, President of Korean Make Up Association and “ LCN Concepts Nail Hand and Foot Treatment” by Mrs Eva Choo, President of Nail Art Association of Hong Kong.
